Rose the Lavender Lady

Rose is definitely a vision in all her finery.  For several years now whenever I am in Santa Fe, I visit the Farmers' Market on Saturdays.  She is always there, selling her  products which relate to her special color,  such as sachet encased in lavender packets.  Originally from the San Francisco Bay area, she has been living happily in Santa Fe for many years.  She told me that she also is a film maker so next time I go to the market, I'll need to find out more about  her interest and activity in film, tv, and theater.

Rose is the 66th portrait I have posted on Flickr for my 100 Stranger Project. To learn more about it , click here: www.100strangers.com/

A Permanent Transplant?

I didn't get a chance to talk to both girls, but Laura with the big smile hails from Ashville, North Carolina where her folks still live in the mountains.  Laura moved to Santa Fe about five years ago and loves it, especially the sunshine. I asked her if she plans to stay, and with a shrug of her shoulders, she replied, "Who knows!"  Currently she is working two jobs; this one is with Matt Romero's Farmers Market vegetable stand and the other is with a non-profit: Santa Fe Mountain ?? I didn't take notes so my memory gave up the last word.

A Feast for the Eyes and Stomach, too!

I strolled the Farmers' Market today to see the colours of flowers, artifacts and food.  These squash blossoms caught my eye.  Now I have to find a good recipe.  They're really too pretty to eat!      PS. I'm still having tons of trouble posting and commenting.  Thank you to all my loyal blogger friends who are still coming by, despite the fact that I'm not commenting on your blogs.  I'm still trying to solve these problems!!

The Good Fairy

On Valentine's Day, Victoria Adams gave a tea party for children at Farmers Market as a Valentine Fairy. There was excitement in the air as she told stories about the importance of love and read to them about the fact that love is everything. I was told by other vendors that she is there every Saturday, entertaining the crowd. The New Mexican newspaper featured a photo of her on February 22, posing as the Flower Fairy to help celebrate the 21st birthday party at the Children's Museum. She is  busy, energetic,  and highly entertaining as a very good fairy!
