When the historic Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, New Mexico, was built in 1882, it was known as "The Belle of the Southwest." After some hard times, it was restored and now sits proudly across from the Old Town Plaza. As we approach Santa Fe which is about an hour away, we always stop to visit it and the shops in this part of the small city that is situated on Hwy 25.

Victorian furniture does not look comfortable to us today, but it was an improvement over the wood furniture that was prevalent before upholstered Victorian furniture became common.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like one of your comfortable old friends, Kate. Glad you are within reach of Santa Fe. Enjoy the next couple of months in the Southwest, of course, as well as a wonderful 2012.
ReplyDeleteI love that hotel! We're off to Taos for the day. They have a Torchlight ski in the ski valley and we also want to have lunch at the Gorge on the plaza. They have the best Veggie Burger in the world in my opinion. Plus Taos offers tax free shopping during the holidays thru the 1st. Enjoy your day!
