Wishful Thinking
Although Santa Fe like much of the Southwest has been suffering from a drought, August is considered the "monsoon" season. We have been treated to short periods of soft, gentle rain and several evenings of thunder showers. Here Olivia is waiting to capture a lightening strike. Not successful, but the lightening display was impressive.

Gosh Kate, those clouds look like they have a bit more than gentle rain in them, very impressive clouds.
ReplyDeleteI have never captured a lightning strike in a photo, and I have been taking photos for about a half century longer than Olivia.
ReplyDeleteI really like this photo. It reminds me of all the photographers doing the same thing one night at the Grand Canyon.
ReplyDeleteLooks like someplace is getting a drenching.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty shot! Lighting strikes are hard to catch, even for the best of photographers. :)
ReplyDeleteOlivia just may be a photographer when she grows up! Last friday night, when we had the BIG storm, I accidentally caught a lightning strike w/ my point & shoot camera. I had thought I had it on video mode & was going to film a short clip... right when I pushed the shutter, a bolt appeared! I'll email it to you so Olivia can see it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous clouds. I sure wish we would get some rain here.
ReplyDeleteStrange to think of rain and cooler temps in AZ compared to MN. Fun to see the little ones participate in photography. Success is in the learning. Wondering if she will create her own CDP blog in the future.
ReplyDeleteI'd very much like to catch a bolt of lightning! I admire Olivia for trying.
ReplyDeleteIt is like the lottery ads -- You can't win if you don't play. I hope Olivia keeps trying.
ReplyDeleteThe skies have been wonderfully scenic lately. This is a wonderful photo.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully composed shot! Now I feel like being there in the desert.
