ANOTHER WAR MEMORIAL: The inscription reads "Remember those Santafeans who went to fight in the mud, snow, and the choking dust of a strange land. Korea 1950-1953"
People in Santa Fe obviously honor their veterans. This memorial is situated in a sweet little park on Old Santa Fe Trail on land donated by Amelia White and dedicated to her.

Korea was another one of our military excursions in which those who fought felt rather alone and forgotten. But it was a horror for the ones involved. Glad to see such a memorial.
ReplyDeletegreat memorial
ReplyDeleteWow, the forgotten war...

these veterans' memorials are so poignant - and so important.
ReplyDeleteThat is very touching they made a memorial for Korea seems so long ago already again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful memorial.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful one and the sky behind it is very dramatic.
ReplyDeleteA terrible war indeed, and so often overlooked. This memorial works better than our Korean War memorial.
ReplyDeleteAnother nasty, forgotten conflict. It was "background" when I was small. The more I've belatedly learned of it, the sadder it is.
ReplyDeleteAll of our veterans deserve to be honored and remembered. Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteThe Korean war was a lot like Vietnam. Many people wanted to close their eyes and pretend it didn't happen. In places I have gone, I have never seen a stand-alone memorial honoring Korean war veterans.
ReplyDeleteI like this memorial.
