I met these fine looking young men in the courtyard in the Eldorado shopping plaza. They scheduled several days there collecting used clothing for those in need. The project was conceived and organized by the young man on the left for his Eagle Scout project. A picture of the future? Perhaps these boys and others like them will help improve our society. Kudos for all of them!!
Good luck to them!
ReplyDeleteI just read about another blogger's daily reading habits. It seems that he no longer reads newspapers and now gets his information from a variety of online resources, including BLOGS. Do you suppose this might be because bloggers bring good news like this post, instead of all that mean stuff like murders, etc.?
ReplyDeleteNot that I think we should hide from those daily events, but wouldn't it be a different world if we heard about all the good things?
Thanks for this post, Kate.
As an Eagle Scout, I congratulate him!
ReplyDeleteR U back in Sante Fe, Kate?! My family and I just returned last night after a month of visiting relatives in Sweden and Norway!
I love it that they were grinning and happy to cooperate for a picture! Nothing so sweet as kids doing something good and being proud of their efforts! Very nice post!
ReplyDeleteI was impressed when I went to our state fair and saw all the entries in the 4H area...rows upon rows in a HUGE building. I love it when kids get involved in things that are outside of the perceived "teen culture" that the media promotes!
They have my kudos too. I think it's great when kids do their part to help out. Not everyone is so fortunate. They look like friendly chaps too. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteclairz's comment is very interesting. I think she's onto something. I certainly find good news and evidence of kindliness in the blogs I read. The news in the media - ours, anyway - is repetitive and very often extremely trivial and poorly reported.
ReplyDeleteAh, scouting a fine tradition of growing up in America.
ReplyDeleteThey are doing something usuful...
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know there are young people out there doing good. I agree w/ Clair... we need to hear more about the good stuff!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! This kind of news lifts my spirits.
