Beautiful Oklahoma Scenery

This year we decided to take the southern route from Minnesota to New Mexico.  One of the states with spectacular scenery that we passed through briefly was Oklahoma.  The color of their soil has always pleased me!

  5. so many different colors for different parts of the the country. I think I should miss the blue/green of the ocean if I lived far from it....but I suppose I would come to love the differing shades of brown and reddish.

  6. This is not what I think of when I think of Oklahoma but I have found that the state has surprises in store for those who venture off the beaten path.

  9. I have been to Oklahoma several times, but have not really explored it. Oklahomans tell me that geographically there are two different states, an eastern one and a western one.

  10. I was born in Oklahoma. I am very familiar with the red clay. It's funny that they have something similar in Prince Edward Island!

  11. Oklahoma has a variety of landscapes. The last time we drove through the state we saw lots of trees and forests and then miles and miles of flat land which for all practical purposes appeared uninhabited. You got some more interesting views here. Love the story of your partying with the linemen!

  13. It reminds me somewhat of red clay badlands we have not that far from where I grew up in southern Ontario.

It's not what I would expect when thinking of Oklahoma.

  14. The myriad colors in the rocks and soil makes me think of the Badlands.

  15. This could be northern Arizona . It's certainly pretty! Glad you arrived safe and sound. And what a great place to come in for a landing!

  16. It's fun to take the less traveled way! I grew up just south of the Oklahoma border (you've heard of Texas) and have been to all parts of OK. It is beautiful,

    Enjoy your stay!
