  2. In my case, the alterations would have to be to let out the waist a little over the years.

  3. What a nice find, Kate! And you're right about finding a good seamstress or tailor. They've gone the way of shoemakers and shoe repair shops.

  4. Love that sign. There are not many places like this around. My Mother was an excellent seamstress. Me, not so much.

  5. That is very true. When I was young, my mother made many of my clothes and I loved them all. I used to have so much fun shopping for fabric with her and looking at all those patterns. I still have one outfit that my mother made and I still wear it about once a year. These days if I need something shortened, my dry cleaners has a very good seamstress I can trust and if it's something more complicated, there is a taylor near by too.

  6. Your title today so enhances what a seamstress does.

  7. I love the sign and the composition of this shot. People wear so much ready-to-wear, less expensive clothing that tailoring is rare. Too bad. Well made and nice fitting clothes can be a good long term investment.

  8. Why do you think the sign maker put the sewing machine off center and at a slant? (I have such a penchant for "order" that this would drive me batty.)

  9. What a great pic Kate. The seamstress is becoming harder to find these days.

  10. The pink of that sign stands out nicely against that wall.

  11. Long ago I used to sew myself, but I never do it anymore, prefer to buy the clothes now.
