A friend of mine was a law clerk many years ago for a very senior Judge in Santa Fe. He said that every morning the Judge would invite him to accompany him to walk over to the La Fonda where they met some very senior lawyers for coffee, and had pretty much the same conversation every day.
That's the place! Packed and lively on a freezing winter's day. French onion soup and then a heavenly pastry. One of my favorite Santa Fe memories! I'd go back in a heartbeat.
We discovered that place too. ...Love the decorations in there...the brick fireplace..or was it just a mantle? ....You have captured it well.Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI'd say the owners know how to decorate with style.
ReplyDeleteWe have stayed at the La Fonda several times.

ReplyDeleteAlways nice to have a pastry shop around :)
ReplyDeleteAny French pastry shop is a friend of mine. I'll put it in my "log" in case we get to Santa Fe before we fade away!
ReplyDeleteLovely details, Kate. I have stayed at La Fonda Hotel a couple of times and thought it was a good hotel perfectly located just off the plaza.
