An Icon
It would be impossible to visit Santa Fe without taking a photo of The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. It has a long history with the city and is part of what makes Santa Fe what it is. I wonder how any times a snapshot has been taken of the exterior with its statues and park as well as the interior altars, windows, and murals.

Like the composition here with the figures in the doorway and about.
ReplyDeleteI also like how you shot the photo from below. It's a nice vantage point. I'm always on the lookout for beautiful churches in my travels.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful structure and a nicely-composed photo. For some reason it reminds me of Notre Dame in Paris.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the cathedral being a magnet for photos. The last time we were in Santa Fe we had a dusting of snow, so I went out at night and got photos of the statues in the church yard and park at night in the snow.
ReplyDeleteI have a shot too. Who could resist? Thanks for the kind words today...Janey
ReplyDeleteI like your point of view.

ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty. I have a picture of this church.....somewhere.
ReplyDeletepretty! love the arching.
ReplyDeleteI too have a photo of this lovely basilica. You wouldn't pass by without lingering or taking a photo. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteNot only would it be impossible to visit Santa Fe without pics of her Churches, I wouldn't want to. Ever the educator you are; thanks for showing a neat way of composing a photo of the icon!
ReplyDeleteI have probably taken a photo of St. Francis every time I have been in Santa Fe. I like your composition.
