I think it is pretty remarkable that I can see rain in the distance. That phenomena surprised me when I first came to Santa Fe. The Southwest skies are a constant source of fascination for me, never tiring of the marvelous vistas.

Out west, we can see much further than we can back east. At lease in my part of the northeast, we have so many buildings and trees that we rarely get wide vistas like this.
ReplyDeleteWe can see rain like that here in Texas too so I always thought everyone saw these skies. I do miss the beautiful skies in Arizona. That west-setting sun picks up the most beautiful reflections from dust and pollution particles!
ReplyDeleteCool shot...we get those skies here just about every afternoon in the summer. And sometimes it can rain across the street while the other side remains totally dry. Like yesterday!
ReplyDeleteYup1 That's a downpour.
ReplyDeleteWe had much needed rain too...probably that same cloud!
ReplyDeleteAlways a refreshing sight to see out here in the west.
ReplyDeleteI get to see skies like that frequently from my 23rd floor office in Phoenix. Yesterday was the first day when it appeared that the monsoon season is starting.
ReplyDeleteWe could use some of that in Phoenix.
ReplyDeleteonce in a while we get to see (and smell) that here, too! would love to get some on the ground (and in the pond) though!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those desert storms. Such drama! You caught it nicely.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you have a new basket - I hope you love it and that you'll post a shot of it in action.
Awesome sky shot.

ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that you can see rain fall from the sky like that!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! Really amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou can always see it coming at least. Do you sit on a balcony and just stare sometimes?
