Rose the Lavender Lady
Rose is definitely a vision in all her finery. For several years now whenever I am in Santa Fe, I visit the Farmers' Market on Saturdays. She is always there, selling her products which relate to her special color, such as sachet encased in lavender packets. Originally from the San Francisco Bay area, she has been living happily in Santa Fe for many years. She told me that she also is a film maker so next time I go to the market, I'll need to find out more about her interest and activity in film, tv, and theater.
Rose is the 66th portrait I have posted on Flickr for my 100 Stranger Project. To learn more about it , click here: www.100strangers.com/

She looks like a creative and nice Lady!
ReplyDeleteNice portrait!
- Happy weekend!:)
Great looking lady! Wonderful portrait, Kate.
ReplyDeleteI like her hat.
ReplyDeleteJulie and I were visiting Sonoma one spring and we saw a little homemade sign on a post that said "Lavender Festival," so we followed it and other signs that led us about 10 miles outside of town to a lavender farm.
ReplyDeleteA retired couple had bought about 20 acres, brought in a dozen goats to clear the land (of thistle), built a house on their hill top, and planted lavender and olive trees. They sold a variety of lavender products.
Among the things we learned is that the word lavender is similar to the French word for wash because both come from the same Latin root because the Romans used to put lavender in with the water while washing clothes to make the clothes smell nice.
I like her sense of style! And I'm jealous that she looks good in hats. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait, Kate.

ReplyDeleteI think I'd like Rose, too. I like lavender, also. She's a very attractive lady and wears her hat with aplomb!
ReplyDeleteI love her sachets. Have bought them both for myself & my mom.
ReplyDeleteLovely portrait! A distinctive woman like this could easily become a caricature, but you've shot her very nicely.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet she would enjoy the Sequim, WA annual Lavender Weekend festival, in midJuly. It celebrates our lavender farms and all things lavender, from lattes to oils, soaps, sachets, artwork, and beyond.
She is a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteI love, love Rose's lavender hat! She's a classy lady!
ReplyDeleteShe sure knows how to promote her product!
